Quality Assurance
is stringent, starting with the planning stages of each job. Computerized
detailed travellers, including customer requirements, accompany every
component. Along with a variety of military standards (including
MIL-I-45208A), PRL is fully accredited by the American Society of
Mechanical Engineers holding ASME Quality System Certificate
QSC-281. PRL houses a DCMA Quality Assurance representative for
government work, and maintains a Department of Defense Facility Security
Clearance.
Customers such as PSE&G
have recognized and appreciated
PRL's unique dedication to
quality and performance. United Defense has awarded PRL "approved
certified supplier" status as a result of dedication to the production of
high integrity castings.

Foundry
services are provided by Regal Cast, Inc. Drawings, as well as
specifications, are customer supplied. Patterns are either provided by
the customer, or obtained from one of three PRL approved pattern shops.
Vast experience enables Regal to provide comprehensive foundry engineering
services resulting in high integrity cast parts.
Regal is capable of
pouring either ferrous or non-ferrous castings, weighing up to 6,000
pounds, with a 250 RMS surface finish. Within a year of pouring its first
casting in 1989, Regal became the smallest of only 150 foundries in the
world to operate an Argon Oxygen Decarburization (AOD) vessel. The AOD
helps purify metal used in ferrous and specialty alloy castings, and has
the following benefits:
|
·
Pinpoint
accuracy in achieving desired aim chemistries
·
Precise
control of carbon to .01% and lower
·
Rapid
desulfurization and lead removal to less than .001%
·
Cleaner
metal, with low residual oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen

Sample processing
is uniquely comprehensive. First article dimensional reports and
sample radiographic examination are the norm. PRL can also include
other sample NDE processes and (if required) make pattern/rigging
alterations. |

Inspection
procedures encompass Visual Testing, full dimensional verification,
Magnetic Particle Testing (wet or dry methods), Liquid Penetrant
Testing (fluorescent dye or visible red dye with white developer),
and Hydrostatic Testing. PRL personnel are ASNT certified up to
Level III. Approved Ultrasonic Testing services are also
available.
Facilities List |

Radiographic Testing
equipment at PRL is capable of providing x-rays on castings from a
quarter inch to 12 inches thick. Supporting capabilities include
Level III ASNT certified personnel, automatic film processing,
digital density determination, and complete film reading. A full
range of ASME code and MIL-STD penetrameters, blocks and standards
are available, along with a complete set of ASTM reference
radiographs.
Facilities List |

Certified Welding at PRL includes manual
shield arc, gas metal arc, and gas tungsten arc methods for government,
nuclear, and commercial applications. For special alloys, gases can be
mixed on-site for required welding. Also available is a vacuum chamber
for welding titanium. An AWS Certified Weld Inspector, for more complex
requirements, is available.Fabrication is done to ASME Section 8 and
MIL-STD-278.

Casting Finishing is attained through jet
arc, grinding and/or blasting. PRL is capable of providing a "cotton
ball" surface in its finishing processes. |

Heat Treating in an atmosphere-controlled
environment is done in one of PRL's several surveyed and calibrated
furnaces, and is available up to 2,200°F. Water and air quench are
available, as well as oil quench for small components. Shot, sand or grit
blasting may be provided in PRL's Wheelabrator.

Machining of medium to heavy weight
castings, forgings, and fabrications is performed at
Brenner Machine
Company. Brenner is able to hold close tolerances on components weighing
up to 15,000 pounds.Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC)
centers enable LTC, Inc. to machine to a tolerance of one one hundred
thousandth of an inch on small to medium sized components. Facilities
List.
PRL Inc.'s wide range of machining
capabilities is unique and enables the company to provide fully machined
parts, which are ready for final assembly.

Delivery of completed components has been a
specialty of PRL. The company's vertical integration, versatility, and
attention to customer requirements enables customer delivery needs to be
taken seriously. Expedited delivery is available for customers in
difficult situations. |

Value Added savings encompass PRL's
dedication and the corporate structure provides necessary flexibility to
be able to meet customer expectations. PRL Inc.'s reputation is one of
timely delivery of quality components. Savings include less rework, fewer
machining interruptions, and all other costs associated with rejected
parts, including delivery delays. Again, when time counts and quality
matters, PRL, Inc. is able to provide both factors simultaneously.
